The 49th got it’s start in 1977 when the Richmond’s purchased the small corner store on 1st Avenue of Ladysmith, BC. We have grown with our community and now with 5 locations, we employ almost 400 local people. Our goal is to provide top quality products, unparalleled service and a friendly shopping atmosphere. Playing a big part in our communities is what we are all about. The 49th is a Vancouver Island owned and operated family business with stores in Ladysmith (where it all started), Chemainus, Cedar and Duncan, BC.
